The Relationship between the use of Smartphone and the Physical and Psychological Symptoms of Adult - Focused on Gwangju Metropolitan City

Abstract
Objective: The purpose of this study is to provide basic data to improve the negative aspects of physical and psychological symptoms by recognizing the physical and psychological symptoms according to the use of smartphone and investigating the relationship.

Method: In this study, An online questionnaire survey was conducted on 403 adult men and women residing in Gwangju Metropolitan City.We analyzed the frequency characteristics of smartphone users who participated in the questionnaire and the correlation between physical and psychological symptoms according to the use of smartphone.

Result: There was a significant correlation between physical and psychology symptoms according to smartphone usage (p<.05). A total of 16 variables were analyzed for the correlation between daily use of data and communication and physical and psychology symptoms of smartphone.
In the physical symptom category, there were neck pain (r=.124, p<0.5), shoulder pain(r=.118, p<.05) (r=.121, p<.05). In the psychology area, helplessness (r=.239, p<.01) and depression (r=.121, p<.05).

Conclusion: In conclusion, daily use of data and usage of phone in smartphone were closely related to negative effects on physical and psychological symptoms.Future prospects for prevention and rehabilitation and improvement of smartphone maladies for the elderly as well as adults can be presented as basic data.
